Email Consolidation

Lead Partner(s)
The Office of the Chief Information Officer

Email consolidation is an ITS project that improves calendar sharing and meeting planning, enhances security, and reduces costs related to supporting multiple email systems.

The move to a single email client allows:

  • Easier scheduling of meetings due to calendar sharing

  • Reduced infrastructure costs and support

  • Greater security of information

  • More effective analysis of current versus obsolete email accounts

The objective of this project was to migrate CMS Email accounts to Exchange Free / Busy Calendar Federation.

OUTCOMES

In June 2016 nearly 10,000 accounts were reviewed with 4,000+ accounts moved from CMS and migrated to the new Exchange system.
