Enhancing Project Management Capacity Across Grounds

Enhancing Project Management Capacity Across Grounds

Seventeen participants from six administrative and ten academic areas recently completed a four-session workshop on project management basics.

The workshop focused on practical skills for informal project leads of smaller scale projects, without the burden of lengthy, formal project management training. Participants transferred and applied learnings and tools to projects they are currently working on.

"The class was well structured, had good exercises, and the instructors were very knowledgeable on the topics. I'd highly recommend this course if you want a good overview of Project Management," said IT Learning and Development Officer Linda Ferguson. Office for Sustainability Project Associate Christine Alencar said, "As I begin my project management journey, the Foundations Workshop was the perfect first step in understanding project management from a broad perspective."

Participants also benefitted from connecting with others managing projects and joined the UVA Project Management Community of Practice.

Kim Holman from the School of Medicine, Tanya Rahman from UVA Human Resources, and Leann Burns from OE collaboratively designed and delivered the program.
