OE 2022-23 Annual Report: Celebrating Partnerships Across Grounds

Throughout last year more than 1,660 participants engaged in over 50 initiatives and eight learning programs to advance planning, improvement, innovation, and organizational change at UVA.
|

Highlights:
- 97% of partners are extremely likely to recommend OE as a resource to others
- 100% of partners rated overall quality of OE services as excellent
- 92% of learning program participants reported a positive impact when they applied what they learned

School of Engineering Faculty Research Retreat
|
|
|
Over 120 faculty gathered at Wintergreen Resort for an engaging, day-long research retreat. OE partnered with Fred Epstein, Associate Dean for Research, Jeff Fox, Director of Research Development, and numerous faculty to design and deliver the programming. A variety of formats – lightning talks, posters, a fishbowl conversation, affinity discussions, and more – created space for interaction, connection, and dialogue to elevate an individual faculty member’s research as well as foster collaborative endeavors.

Tap the Wisdom of the Whole Groups: Wise Crowds
|
|
|
At the UVA Engineering Faculty Research Retreat, one session used the Liberating Structure "Wise Crowds" to help engineering faculty frame large-scale research project challenges and have their peers generate ideas to address them.
|
|
|
|
This structure improves an individual's ability to ask for help and allows for cumulative learning between participants. Try it!
