Travel & Expense Redesign Pilot Complete

OE and Procurement and Supplier Diversity Services recently completed an eight-week Travel and Expense redesign pilot. Through the pilot, dozens of trips have been booked, and expense reports have been processed using the simplified policies. The pilot group has been instrumental in recommending improvements to the travel workbook, currency conversion, and export control processes.

Athletics, Advancement, Electrical Engineering, PSDS, the School of Medicine's Medical Education Group, and the McIntire School of Commerce participated in the pilot. Benefits of the project include:

  • Automation
  • Mobile solutions
  • Enhanced safety
  • Better pricing

"I am eager to use the new travel program for my next trip. Users can store frequent flyer information, and searching for air travel, car rental and a hotel looks convenient." – Milton Adams, Sr. Vice Provost

"Our group of 20 faculty, students, and colleagues were in Germany during the weeks when the world was focused on the influx of Syrian war refugees into that country, and the possibilities for unrest there. It occurred to me that it would have been to our benefit to be "tracked" by the UVA system and notified of any travel advisories in the region. I can honestly say that am looking forward to being able to use the new system." – Arlene Keeling, School of Nursing
