The Project Management and Continuous Improvement team uses LEAN methodologies in UVA's School of Medicine (SOM) to problem solve and facilitate departmental process improvements. Richard has also been involved with LEAN practices in the School of Medicine and is currently leading the Talent Management team in Ufirst, HR's University-wide reorganizational project.
The LEAN method has been described as “The relentless pursuit of value through the strategic elimination of waste”. It is a way of thinking; a system with methodologies that is based on continuous improvement and respect for people.
At this event, you'll learn the fundamentals of LEAN, hear some of the success stories of LEAN at UVA, and participate in activities that demonstrate the improvement/iterative nature of the methodologies. Many of the LEAN resources will be posted on a Collab site for your personal use after this event.
