Server / Data Centralization

"Rivanna" - UVA's $2.4 million Cray computing cluster housed at the University Data Center
Server and data center consolidation is an IT project that unifies resources to more efficiently and effectively manage servers and University data.

Server and data consolidation will reduce costs, increase service levels, and ensure greater data security.

This will be achieved by:

  • Reduced infrastructure costs from consolidation into one location - physical space, environmental controls, etc.
  • Increased system monitoring
  • Moving servers and data to a centralized and secure location with generator and backup capability
